Emily Edmunds & Home Sustainability

From Cornell Cooperative Extension, Emily Edmunds is here to talk about how to help make homes more energy efficient with better insulation and money saving opportunities. Here at the Belmont Library on Thursday April 11th from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Come with questions or just to learn.

Are you interested in information about how to make your home more energy efficient? Join us at the Belmont Free Library on April 11th at 9:30 AM for an informational session with Emily Edmunds, a Sustainability Campaign Educator with CCE-Cattaraugus. Emily Edmunds works with residents in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, and Allegany County. As an Educator she works with people to help them become more sustainable, reduce their energy costs, and improve their home to be more energy efficient which in turn improves their health, comfort, and safety. She can provide information to help residents find the right programs to weatherize and insulate their homes, install efficient heating and cooling equipment, save on energy costs, or talk about solar energy. Emily also can provide information or assistance to free or reduced cost energy assessments, installation services, low-cost financing, and programs.

To help New Yorkers access and navigate the growing clean energy economy, the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has created Regional Clean Energy Hubs. The Clean Energy Hubs connect people to the clean energy economy. The Western New York Regional Clean Hub is a team of trusted, knowledgeable, community-based organizations in and from your region of the state. They have experience with clean energy, energy efficiency, workforce and economic development, energy literacy and weatherization. Quote

“There were dragons when I was a boy. Ah, there were great, grim sky dragons that nested on the clifftops like gigantic, scary birds. Little, brown, scuttly dragons that hunted down the mice and rats in well-organized packs. Preposterously huge sea dragons that were twenty times as big as the big blue whale. Some say they crawled back into the sea, leaving not a bone nor a fang for men to remember them by. Others say they were nothing but folktales to begin with. I’m okay with that.
Legend says that when the ground quakes, or lava spews from the earth, it’s the dragons, letting us know they’re still here, waiting for us to figure out how to get along. Yes, the world believes the dragons are gone, if they ever existed at all. But we Berkians, we know otherwise. And we’ll guard this secret until the time comes when dragons can return in peace.”

The quilt type is classified as “friendship,’ with the materials being cotton, a solid design of red and white, with no sashing.
